AIS is the premier community for IS academics. Whether through networking opportunities, access to first-class research and top tier journals, job placement services or discounted registration fees to leading IS conferences around the world, AIS membership will provide you with the tools and resources you need to connect, exchange and advance.

Here are just a few of the benefits and features of AIS membership:

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Chapters

AIS recognizes that your IS research and experiences are not one-size-fits-all. Whether you are looking for like-minded individuals in a specialized area of research or are seeking to network with colleagues in your country, AIS SIGs and Chapters provide you the opportunity to tailor your membership to your individual needs. SIGs and Chapters ensure that you stay on the cutting-edge of research and best practice both during and between annual conferences.

SIGs—33 SIGs (and growing) currently facilitate networking and the exchange of ideas within particular pedagogical areas.

Chapters—Each of the 24 chapters enable you to cultivate successful working relationships with your local AIS colleagues.

Conferences

AIS members enjoy access to some the most pre-eminent IS conferences in the world. The International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), two annual conferences open exclusively to members of the AIS, have long been one of the cornerstones of AIS and an important forum for academic IS researchers. The networking opportunities are invaluable, and the research presented in the conference proceedings of both ICIS and AMCIS is found in the permanent collections of libraries throughout the world.

Discounted registration is also available for other premier IS conferences, including chapter conferences and those sponsored by or affiliated with AIS. As an AIS member, you can receive member-only registration fees to two of the most elite IS conferences in the world, the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and the PacificAsia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) . You will also have access to great discounts on other affiliated conferences.

Check the homepage of aisnet.org for information about upcoming conferences. We are constantly expanding our network—so you can continue to expand yours.

eLibrary

Access to the latest research and top tier journals—and the ability for other IS academics and practitioners to access and cite your research—is the foundation for any successful academic career. That’s why AIS offers one of the most comprehensive, user-friendly e-libraries in the world, with more than 10,000 articles and counting, proceedings from all the premier IS conferences and articles from six highly-regarded journals, with new content being added daily. And all this great information is available exclusively to AIS members and individual subscribers.

For more information about some of the conference proceedings available on the e-library, please visit www.aisel.aisnet.org or see the Conferences section of this page; for more information about the journals, please see the Journals section of this page.

Journals

AIS members automatically receive access to three AIS journals (JAIS, CAIS, and RELCASI), as well as access to other prominent journals in the field, including MIS Quarterly and MIS Quarterly Executive. Additionally, members can take advantage of exclusive discounted subscription rates to a growing number of professional journals.

Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) — The flagship research journal of AIS, JAIS publishes rigorously-researched and methodologically sound articles on all aspects of IS and IT. It welcomes and encourages new scholarship utilizing interdisciplinary and nontraditional approaches.

Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS) —CAIS publishes articles of interest to membership on a wide range of subjects that fall outside of the scope of many research journals. These include applications, cases, innovation and novel concepts, teaching, and tutorials on the state of the art.

Revista Latinoamericana Y Del Caribe De La Association De Sistemas De Informacion (RELCASI)— RELCASI is the first Spanish-speaking journal of AIS and publishes articles on the examination of Information Management.

AIS also hosts SPROUTS, an open-access journal dedicated to research about how information is both generated and used within the socio-technical landscape.

Placement

Are you ready to plan your next career move but don’t know where to start? As an AIS member, you can access the latest job postings from top IS schools and corporate recruiters and post your resume free of charge through the AIS Placement Service. You’ll also have access to the MIS Faculty Salary Survey to aid you in your negotiations. Since its launch in 2002, over 350 universities have posted positions in AIS Placement.

In addition to providing applicants and universities with access to online postings and resumes, AIS Placement registrants also receive exclusive access to the Placement facilities at AMCIS and ICIS, if also registered for the designated conference.

Community

Perhaps the most important—and most intangible—benefit of AIS membership is the community itself. By becoming an AIS member, you will not only have access to the tools and resources you  need to further your career, you will also have access to the best and brightest IS academics throughout the world, and all they have to offer.
